My TCS1: ICT WORKS

 ICT-SEMINAR

CYBER SAFETY & SECURITY CONCERNS

ICT SEMINAR REPORT

INTRODUCTION:
Information and communication technology (ICT) is a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate and to create, disseminate, store and manage information. ICT has become part of everyday life. The National curriculum framework 2005 (NCF 2005) has highlighted the importance of ICT in school education. School life is the foundational period of a man. So it is a teacher’s duty to teach the best use of the internet and other tools to them.
Teachers play a vital role in education and also in student’s life. A person with proper vision, experience, and an education degree can enter the teaching profession. Teachers are at the core of any living society. Starting from elementary school, a teacher plays an important role only next to the parents in molding the children. They are to be handled with affection, courtesy, and discipline. So, a teacher has to maintain a good set of manners and try to be a role model. This not only helps the children adopt it but also improves their respect and regards to their teacher.
 METHODOLOGY OF PRESENTATION:
Each student chooses topic of their presentation from the syllabus TCS 1: Convergence of Technology in Classroom: ICT and Beyond for the electronic visual presentation. The topic chosen by me is: CYBER SAFETY & SECURITY CONCERNS from Unit VII- ICT IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
 Medium of Presentation:
 PowerPoint and Oral & short video on hacking
There are total of 29 slides for the current presentation. The presentation was prepared under the supervision of concerned teacher. The seminar was held on 27th february , 2021 in the presence of teachers and colleagues. The time taken for the presentation was 20 minutes. The presentation was followed by discussion session. Questions related to the topic were asked by the colleagues and the teacher. The questions are:
 Give more examples of VIRUS?
 What is Trojan horse?
 Explain CYBER SAFETY AND SEURITY
 What’s the difference between a virus, a worm, a Trojan and spyware?
 How can avoide malicious website?
 What can I do to protect myself?
 Why would someone want to steal or damage the data on my computer?
 What is firewall?
 What is antivirus software?
 What makes a password strong
After the discussion, colleagues gave their review.
 Peer Evaluation:
The points which were covered in peer evaluation are:
 Reading Accuracy
 Issue Based Explanation
 Point of View
 Presentation
 Knowledge of the Subject
 Graphical Representation

CONCLUSION
By seminar presentation, all student become very active. If properly conduct, it teaches the methods of scientific analysis and techniques of research. It helps to exchange of facts and attempts to crystalize the group opinion which is sound and workable. Seminar gives training in self-learning and promotes independent thinking. By participating in a seminar, students become more articulate and develops a more critical point of view and organized, scientific approach
towards issue.

INTRODUCTION

What is web- based learning? Web based learning is often called online learning or e-learning because it includes online course content. Discussion forums via email, videoconferencing, and live lectures (video streaming) are all possible through the web. Web based courses may also provide static pages such as printed course materials. One of the values of using the web to access course materials is that web pages may contain hyperlinks to other parts of the web, thus enabling access to a vast amount of web based information. A “virtual” learning environment (VLE) or managed learning environment (MLE) is an all in one teaching and learning software package. A VLE typically combines functions such as discussion boards, chat rooms, online assessment, tracking of students' use of the web, and course administration. VLEs act as any other learning environment in that they distribute information to learners. VLEs can, for example, enable learners to collaborate on projects and share information. However, the focus of web based courses must always be on the learner—technology is not the issue, nor necessarily the answer.

MEANING OF WEB-BASED LEARNING
“Web-based learning consist all educational interventions that make use of the internet or a local intranet”. There are currently three broad classifications or configurations within WBL:

1. Tutorials
2. Online discussion group and
3. Virtual patients.
DEFINITION OF WEB-BASED LEARNING

Khan (1997) defines Web based learning(WBL) as,”….a hypermedia-based instructional program which utilizes the attributes and resources of the world wide web to create a meaningful learning environment where learning is fostered and supported.”
CHARACTERISTICS OF WEB- BASED LEARNING

 Understandable
 Goal oriented
 Time
 High Interactivity
 Multiple Representation of information.
 Motivational
 Collaboration
 Flexibility
FEATURES OF TYPICAL WEB-BASED COURSE

 Course information, notice board, time table curriculum map
 Teaching materials such as slides , handouts, articles.
 Communication via email and discussion boards
 Formative and summative assessments.
 Students management tools (records, statistics, student tracking)
 Links to useful internal and external websites- for examples, online database, and journals.
Advantages of Web-Based Learning

1. Easy access to the vast resources.
2. Makes Learning experiences possible.
3. Distance learning.
4. Improve the learning process.
5. Makes communication easy.
6. Student centred learning.
7. Instilling high order thinking skills.
8. More convenient for students and saves time.
9. Easy access about current news
10. Cost reduction 11. Increase motivation and access Disadvantages of Web-Based learning
1. Problem in access.
2. Technological obstacles.
3. High cost.
4. Lack of moral value implementation.
5. Social isolation.
6. De-individualized instruction
7. Poor instructional design.
Web Based Learning OBJECTS

 E-conferencing
Use of online presentations and discussion forums (in real time or stored as downloadable files on a website) to avoid the need for participants to travel.
 E-learning
Learning through electronic means, such as via the web (see world wide web), an intranet, or other multimedia materials
 HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language)
The language used to create web pages. HTML files can also contain links to other types of files including word processed files, spreadsheets, presentation slides, and other web pages
 Hyperlinks
Links in web pages that enable the user to access another web page (either on the same or a different site) with just one mouse click
 Internet
A global network of computers divided into subsets (for example, the web or email systems). Computers are linked to the internet via host computers, which link to other computers via dial up (for example, via a modem) and network connections
 Internet service provider (ISP)
Home users usually access the internet through an internet service provider (such as AOL), which maintains a network of PCs permanently connected to the internet
 Intranet
A network of computers that share information, usually within an organisation. Access normally requires a password and is limited to a defined range of users
 Managed learning environment (MLE)
Usually has an integrated function, providing administrative tools, such as student records, and linking with other management information systems (MLS)
 Search engines (such as Lycos, Google)
Can be used to help to find information
 Video streaming
The process by which video images are able to be stored and downloaded on the web. These might be in real time (such as a conference) or used asynchronously.
 Virtual learning environment (VLE)

A set of electronic teaching and learning tools. Principal components include systems that can map a curriculum, track student activity, and provide online student support and electronic communication.

 World Wide Web (WWW)
Use of the internet to present various types of information. Websites or home pages may be accessed with the aid of a browser program (such as Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Explorer). All such programmes use HTML.

 WEBINAR
A webinar is an event held virtually which is attended exclusively by an online audience. This distinguishes it from a webcast, which also includes the presence of a physical audience. Other terms used as alternatives for webinar are web event, online seminar, webcast, web lecture and virtual event.

 ONLINE JOB AIDS
Business Dictionary defines job-aids as “Devices or tools that allow an individual to quickly access the information he or she needs to perform a task.” They facilitate learners to look up solutions to real-world tasks whenever they are in doubt. Online job-aids can be anything from checklists (in the form of PDFs) to flowcharts (info graphics) learners can access each time they need information.

 BLENDED LEARNING
Blended learning is an approach to education that combines online educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods. Blended learning is also used in professional development and training settings.Limitations of web-based learning .When designing web based programmes (as with any learning programme), the learners' needs and experience must be taken into account. Appropriate technology and reasonable computer skills are needed to get the best out of web based or online learning. Programmes and web pages can be designed to accommodate different technical specifications and versions of software. It is frustrating for learners, however, if they are trying to work on the internet with slow access or cannot download images and videos they need. On the other hand, web based programmes may, for example, encourage more independent and active learning and are often an efficient means of delivering course materials.

CONCLUSION
Web based learning offers huge opportunities for learning and access to a vast amount of knowledge and information. The role of teachers is to ensure that the learning environment provided takes account of learners' needs and ensures that they are effectively prepared and supported. Online learning has advantages, but web based learning should not always be viewed as the method of choice because barriers (such as inadequate equipment) can easily detract from student learning. The technology must therefore be applied appropriately and not used simply because it is available and new or because students and teachers have particular expectations of this means of course delivery.

The economic growth, financial incentive and motivation for advanced innovations imbedded in the balanced legal protection of Intellectual Property Rights entails proficient, directed and timely updated guidance in the field of Intellectual Property rights.

Intellectual property has increasingly assumed a vital role with the rapid pace of technological, scientific and medical innovation that we are witnessing today. Moreover, changes in the global economic environment have influenced the development of business models where intellectual property is a central element establishing value and potential growth. In India several new legislations for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs) have been passed to meet the international obligations under the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of intellectual property rights (TRIPS).

CHARACTERISTICS

The intellectual property rights were essentially recognized and accepted all over the world due to some very important reasons.
